Chairperson's Message

Volunteerism Is The Heartbeat of ESRA

Nella Feldsher, ESRA Chairwoman

Dear ESRA members and esteemed readers,

As the Chair of ESRA, it is with great pleasure that I share with you the remarkable efforts made by our volunteers and the office in supporting those who need us, especially during the war time. In these difficult times we are all vulnerable and worried. However, a great way to cope with this is helping others.

During the war, our volunteers played a pivotal role in supporting those affected by the war. Understanding the critical need for basic necessities during a war, ESRA volunteers engaged in collecting and distributing essential supplies to the families in distress.

They tirelessly worked to ensure raising funds and distributing them to the families who had to leave their homes and suffered the tragic consequences of the war. We launched a very successful emergency campaign for these purposes. A special thank you to Terry Morris for working very hard to raise the funds, and Adele Hunter, Dina Keusch, Avram Hanson, as well as Anat Schifter, Irene Oliel and Sunny Marshansky whose support made it possible.

War is taking a toll on one's mental well-being, and our volunteers recognized the importance of offering emotional support to those affected. Through counseling services, support groups, and virtual gatherings, they created a safe space for individuals to share their fears, anxieties, and hopes for a peaceful future.

Less obvious, but not less important was extending the English language tutoring programs of all kinds to support the kids who stayed home without any systematic educational opportunities.

Volunteers are the backbone of ANY community, and ESRA is fortunate to have a passionate and committed group of individuals who strive to make a difference in the lives of English-speaking residents in Israel, as well as other Israelis. With their unwavering dedication, they have demonstrated the true spirit of unity and compassion. Volunteerism has always been at the heart of ESRA, and this year we witnessed its transformative power. Our volunteers passionately dedicated themselves to a variety of projects, making a positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities in need. Their selflessness and dedication are truly inspiring and represent the core values of ESRA. It has long been a platform for personal growth and learning, and this year was no exception. Our diverse range of workshops, lectures, and events aimed to enrich the lives of our members, providing opportunities to explore new interests and develop new skills. I am incredibly grateful to our volunteers and speakers who dedicated their time and expertise to make these opportunities possible.

As the Chair of ESRA, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every volunteer who has dedicated their time, skills, and resources to make a difference. Together, we shall continue to build a brighter future for all members of our community.

Serving as the Chairperson I feel immense pride in what we have accomplished and the strong bonds that connect us.

Throughout the year, our focus has remained firmly rooted in fostering connection and engagement within our ESRA family. We have strived to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every member feels valued and heard. I am delighted to witness the growth in our community, the vibrant discussions, and the meaningful relationships that have blossomed.

As I reflect on this half a year, I am filled with gratitude for the support and dedication of our members, volunteers, and partners. Without your enthusiasm and commitment, none of our achievements would have been possible. Together, we have made significant strides in strengthening our community and uplifting those around us.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the future of ESRA and the opportunities that lie before us. As a team, we will continue to evolve, adapt, and address the ever-changing needs of our membership. I am committed to ensuring that ESRA remains a vibrant and inclusive organization that serves as a bridge of connection and support for all.

Thank you for entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as your Chairperson. I am honored to work alongside each and every one of you, and I am eager to see what we can accomplish together in the coming year.

With warm regards,

Nella
