Yadin Kaufmann Launches "A Good Option"

New Public Service Venture Fund

Yadin Kaufmann

By Yaniv Lavie

Following the success of Tmura's donation model in Israel, its founder, Yadin Kaufmann, launched a new public service venture fund in the US. The fund, named "A Good Option," will solicit donations and pledges of equity from early-stage US tech companies, including their founders, senior employees, and investors. The proceeds from eventual exits will support US Jewish and Israeli charitable causes, along with other nonprofits.

According to the fund's unique model, every donor will have the opportunity to recommend organizations of their choice to receive the proceeds. The new fund is managed by Sivan Aloni-Olidort in New York. Board members include Stacy Schusterman, Chairperson of Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Philanthropies and David Sable, Former CEO of Young & Rubicam.

"A Good Option" aims to replicate the success of Tmura, which was established in Israel 23 years ago. Tmura invites early-stage startups to donate stock options instead of cash. When these companies are acquired or go public, the options are exercised and monetized, enabling the fund to channel these contributions into impactful community initiatives. This innovative model allows young companies to make significant contributions, even in their early stages. To date, Tmura has received equity donations from 910 Israeli companies and has generated $34 million from successful Israeli exits, including Waze, Riskified, Outbrain, CyberArk, BioCatch, and many others. These funds have supported dozens of innovative and impactful Israeli youth and education nonprofits. Baruch Lipner has been Tmura's Executive Director since inception.

Kaufmann: "We're excited to launch 'A Good Option,' and to 'export' Tmura's successful model in order to help support the US Jewish community. We believe this model can help engage young Jews in the US tech sector with Jewish life, using proceeds from successful tech exits to support Jewish and Israeli-related causes, thereby strengthening the US Jewish community and its connection to Israel."

Sivan Aloni-Olidort: "Since October 7th, we have seen a meaningful increase in the desire of young American Jews, and in the private sector specifically, to make a positive impact on Jewish and Israel-related causes. We are thrilled to introduce a new way for rising Jewish leaders here in the U.S. to direct their impact through a new personalized channel to support important causes including the fight against antisemitism, supporting Israeli life, Jewish education, and other global causes."
