An impressive series of victories has led Guy Firer, aged 19, from Tzoran, to become one of the most promising and best wakeboard skiers in the world. When he is overseas, he has the support of his family - his father Jeffrey, mother Vered and sisters, Liron and Tal. He is the grandson of Sybil and the late Charles Firer, originally from South Africa.
In September 2016 Guy won the European Youth Championship for the 2nd year. In November 2016 he won a bronze medal in the Open World Adult Championship, competing against skiers aged 26 -31 years old. He concurrently also won a gold in the Open World Youth Championship, competing against competitors from many countries. He proudly stood on the podium in Mexico, a sportsman's dream, to receive gold and bronze medals.

He was also presented with the best youth sportsman of the year award in 2016. At a prize- giving ceremony on January 3, 2017, Guy was chosen as sportsman of the year in the non- Olympic section, receiving a trophy and certificate from the Minister of Culture and Sports.

Guy and his ‘trophy cabinet’

It all started in 2006, when Guy was 9-years-old and the family bought a boat to use on the Kinneret. His parents took Guy and his sister, Tal, to try out waterskiing with cables at the Menachem Begin Park in Tel Aviv. From the first day Guy skied, his talent was evident and he loved the sport.
His outstanding talent was encouraged by the family, and they helped him develop his potential. Vered would drive him to practice daily for many years. Guy progressed very quickly and participated in competitions in Israel, winning many prizes. He then started competing around the world, accompanied by family members. Now, when away, he has the love and support of his family. No less important is the additional support Guy receives from the Ayelet Federation for non-Olympic Competitive sports and also from his trainer, Omri Ben Natan.

May Guy continue to bring honor to Israel and his proud family.
