Herb Keinon in Modi'in

A large turnout of over 80 people came to hear Herb Keinon, Diplomatic Correspondent of The Jerusalem Post. He is definitely a crowd-catcher. It was a most successful event and a delightful morning with a fascinating speaker who spoke to us about Obama, Netanyahu and the Palestinians.

An American-born Israeli journalist, and a frequent lecturer on Israeli diplomacy, Herb Keinon also finds time to write about the lighter side of life in this country. He spoke with great insight about the many political situations and meetings with world leaders, and he held his audience captive with his wise and witty narratives and perspective on all matters, be they political or otherwise. Regular readers of his columns know that he is one of the country's premier diplomatic reporters and analysts.

A professional journalist in every sense of the word, Herb Keinon sheds an interesting light on the daily political situations prevalent in Israel and throughout the world. He provides a non-alarmist coverage of the diplomacy between Israel and the Palestinians. He referred to the many issues that imperil Israel during these turbulent times in a humorous manner and not in one of gloom. A keen observer of immigrant life in Israel, he also spoke about the ups and downs of life here with light hearted humor which had the audience in peals of laughter.

In his book, French Fries in Pita, he wrote: "Indeed, despite the much discussed, documented and real problems that Israel faces, the country still has something special that stirs people to move there and voluntarily become immigrants, a designation – and a feeling – that lasts forever."

The morning ended with a Q & A session, followed by delicious refreshments prepared by several ESRA Modiin committee members.
