Fran Flamholz - In Memoriam

Fran Flamholz was one of the most active members of the ESRA Tel Aviv committee. Besides collecting the entrance fees for the lectures at Beit Ariela, she was also at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art to check in the people who had signed in for the lectures. Fran helped organize the distribution of the ESRAmagazines. If there was a problem, she was the person to call and the problem was solved. There was rarely anything which was asked of her that she didn't do with a big smile.

Fran also greeted people at The Diaspora Museum with a warm welcome and any information they might have needed. Fran never seemed frazzled and was never angry.

She was a very private person and we don't know much about her personal life except that after her divorce she moved from New York to Israel with her young daughter. They settled on the border of Ramat Gan and Bnei Brak, which suited Fran's unique personality. Fran was a deeply religious person observing many mitzvot but never letting this get in the way of socializing with those less observant. She was an inspiration to those who knew how she respected everyone in spite of their views on life.

On this yahrzeit of her death we remember her fondly and miss her greatly. May her name be for a blessing.

Merry Kane

Member of the ESRA Tel Aviv committee
