Closure of Museum Would be a Mistake

Bev and I recently visited the smallest museum we have ever seen. It celebrates the work of Joseph Bau, a calligrapher, an artist, caricaturist, an animator (he was called the Walt Disney of Israel), author, poet, publisher.

What? You have never heard of Joseph Bau? Perhaps that is because he did not sign his most significant works. This museum is a work of love, curated by Bau's two daughters. It is located in his former studio at No. 9 Berdichevsky Street, Tel Aviv. TripAdvisor has rated that museum number one of 239 things to do in Tel Aviv.

Despite its popularity the museum is threatened with closure because its landlord wants his space back. Unless an alternate site and the money to move the museum will be found this memorial to a man who made history may vanish.

At present it is still open to visitors who must, however arrange the visit in advance by calling 054 421 2730 or 054 430 1499.
