Lola (Krain) Katz was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and schooled at Johannesburg Girls High, Banarto Park. She has a B.A. Degree (1960 - Witwatersrand University, South Africa), a Teaching Diploma (1961 - Teachers Training College, Johannesburg) and an M.A. Degree TESOL (1984 - Tel Aviv University.)
She has worked as an English teacher, trainer and course designer all of her professional life. Starting as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language in Chexbres Switzerland she continued working in high schools in Johannesburg until she came to live in Israel in 1969. After a short stint teaching in schools here, Lola became a teacher trainer at Beit Berl College until 1984.Concurrently she was co-author and teacher trainer –in the ESH Project of Tel Aviv University and author of course books for Burlington Books. In 1979 she was a recipient of a British Council Bursary to Lancaster University, UK.
In 1976 she began working in the Prime Ministers Office where she worked as course designer program developer and English trainer, focussing on Cross Cultural Communication Skills till her retirement in 2008.
Since 1990 Lola has been a volunteer in ESRA in various English projects and is today Co-Coordinator of the Volunteer Committee.
She is married to Hertzel and is the proud mother of 3 children, Barry, Sharon and Ilan and 5 grandchildren all of whom live in Israel.
