THE FIRST Jerusalem Biennale for Contemporary Jewish Art is taking place at five locations in the city, 16 September – 10 October showcasing modern art, installations and performance art by dozens of Israeli and international artists related to the theme of Jewish content. The Achim Chasid complex at 45 Emek Refaim Street hosts the Now exhibition, which includes an installation by award-winning American Jewish artist Tobi Kahn and evening performances by the dance group "Between Heaven and Earth". The exhibition "My soul thirsts" at the Wolfson Museum of Jewish Art at Hechal Shlomo includes works by Haredi women students from the Oman art school. The First Station showcases a one-man photography exhibition by Ziv Koren; a joint exhibition by father and daughter Michael and Neta Elkayam entitled "The Thread of Gold" is on show at Beit Avi Chai and "Traditional", an outdoor exhibition, is in the Musrara neighborhood. Tickets (NIS 30 in advance or NIS 40 at the door) include all five venues, not restricted to one day and include special dance and music events on selected evenings at Emek Refaim.
