Apollonia from the air

The National Park of Apollonia, situated on the clifftop overlooking the sea just north of Herzliya Pituach, provides the visitor with a tantalizing glimpse of past centuries, and especially of the Roman, Byzantine, Early Moslem and Crusader periods.

The 2013 season of archeological excavations in the park, directed by Professor Oren Tal, under the auspices of the Tel Aviv University, will take place from July 29 to August23.

We will be working Mondays through Fridays, from 07:00 until 14:30 and we welcome volunteers. Previous archeological experience is not required, just enthusiasm to assist in digging up history.

The participation fee for local residents is NIS 120 per day, minimum five days, which includes instruction, excavation work under professional supervision, cleaning finds, pottery sorting workshops, insurance and breakfast and lunch on site. The catering is kosher.
